CROWN

Reflex Crown - Designers Series I or II GUIK
Another of the symmetrical REFLEX scenarios. This one
features two British Task Forces. The RED one must
block the passage of the BLUE one into the English
Channel.

REFLEX CROWN

1.0 BACKGROUND

1.1 This file package contains another of the REFLEX scenarios.
It is playable in either HDS I or HDS II GIUK. (You must change
file extensions if you want to use the HDS II Battleset,
however.) REFLEX scenarios utilize symmetrical orders of battle.
Heck, IDENTICAL orders of battle! This one incorporates DIFFERENT
victory conditions for the two sides, however.

1.11 Let me be absolutely clear on this. What you have in the way
of assets, HArI O has.

1.2 This REFLEX scenario features elements of the British Navy.

1.21 The scenario lasts for two days of game time, although it
should take a lot less to achieve MINVIC for either side. TOVIC
may be a different matter, however.

1.22 The victory conditions in this scenario are NOT symmetrical.
The BLUE side must reach an on station position with its carrier
essentially undamaged in order to achieve a MINVIC. The RED side
must stop this from happening.

2.0 ORDERS

2.1 RED ORDERS: Destroy the BLUE task force, concentrating on the
carrier. Ensure that the carrier does not enter the English
Channel. Minimize losses to your own forces, particularly your
subs.

2.2 BLUE ORDERS: You are to get your carrier into the English
Channel. Having done that, you are to eliminate HArI O's units.

3.0 SITUATION REPORT

3.1 This scenario depicts the second half of an exercise in which
the BLUE side has been more successful thus far. You have
successfully rendezvoused with an American frigate and must now
return to Base (Portsmouth). The RED fleet was unable to stop
the rendezvous, but is now well positioned to block your safe
passage to port.

3.2 Some of your aircraft are embarked without initial weapons
loadouts. Correcting that will be up to you. I would give this
VERY EARLY attention!

4.0 VICTORY CONDITIONS

BLUE

4.1 MINVIC: Your carrier on station in the English Channel for
just ten minutes.

4.2 TOVIC: I won't say exactly, but it requires destruction of
many of RED's units.

RED

4.1 MINVIC: 51% damage to the BLUE carrier.

4.2 TOVIC: You need to destroy the BLUE Task Force, all of it;
and you must not lose any subs in the process.

5.0 DISCUSSION

5.1 This scenario is a good learning experience. <g> You will
have a representative unit (or more) of nearly every class of
unit in the current British Navy, both air and sea. The idea here
is to use each to its maximum effect.

5.2 This scenario can be won (TOVIC) from either side.

5.3 The RED side in this one has the more variable of starting
conditions. A very few of them can be quite nasty. HArI O's
carrier, for example, can start in one of three places, several
hundred miles apart.

5.4 I originally built this scenario for BLUE only play. That is
why there are only a few variable starting conditions for your
units. HArI O will attempt to deny you knowledge of the location
of his units as long as possible.
